Hockey East began in 1984 as a hockey-only conference stationed in the New England area. The teams that make up Hockey East include Boston College, Boston University, Maine, University of Massachusetts, U-Mass-Lowell, Merrimack College, New Hampshire, Northeastern, Providence, and Vermont. Boston College won the 2006-’07 Hockey East Tournament Championship and then went on to compete in the NCAA National Championship game.
